KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE PRIZE! Don’t get distracted…

In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful…

As always, I begin by braising the One worthy of all praise. If we were to spend all our lives in prayer, thanking Allah for the eye-sight alone He’s given us, it wouldn’t be enough… And what about the rest of the blessings?!?

I listened to this video about a companion of Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) who wanted a red camel more than anything… And Allah’s Messenger (PBUH) told him that if he wanted a red camel, he will ave a red cammel in Jannah! His red camel is our red Ferrari.

Instead of working towards a red Ferrari in this world, which you will only keep for a matter of years, work towards your red Ferrari in Jannah which you will get to keep for eternity.

This speaker is absolutely amazing, may Allah reward him:

A few things our Allah & His beloved Messenger (PBUH) told us about paradise:

The Prophet said, “A place in Paradise as small as the bow or lash of one of you is better than all the world and whatever is in it”
[Sahih Bukhari 4:51, Narrated Abu Huraira]

One of my favorite hadith, because it is so graphical:

The Prophet said, “There is a tree in Paradise (which is so big and huge that) if a rider travels in its shade for one hundred years, he would not be able to cross it.”
[Sahih Bukhari 4:474, Narrated Anas bin Malik]

…Any person who will enter Paradise will resemble Adam (in appearance and figure). People have been decreasing in stature since Adam’s creation.
[Sahih Bukhari 4:543, Narrated Abu Huraira]

Allah describes paradise in the Qur’an:

In a lofty Paradise.
Where they shall neither hear harmful speech nor falsehood,
Therein will be a running spring,
Therein will be thrones raised high,
And cups set at hand.
And cushions set in rows,
And rich carpets (all) spread out.
[Qur’an Al-Ghaashiyah 88:10-16]

Just like there are different communities in this world; some more beautiful than others; Jannah also has multiple levels:

Haritha was martyred on the day (of the battle) of Badr, and he was a young boy then. His mother came to the Prophet and said, “O Allah’s Apostle! You know how dear Haritha is to me. If he is in Paradise, I shall remain patient, and hope for reward from Allah, but if it is not so, then you shall see what I do?” He said, “May Allah be merciful to you! Have you lost your senses? Do you think there is only one Paradise? There are many Paradises and your son is in the (most superior) Paradise of Al-Firdaus.”
[Sahih Bukhari 5:318, Narrated Anas]

Here’s a few ways to paradise:

For sisters, the formula is simple…

The Prophet said: If a woman dies while her husband was pleased with her, she will enter Paradise.
[Transmitted by Tirmidhi, Narrated Umm Salamah]

And here’s one that applies to both, brothers and sisters:

Allah’s Apostle said, “Whoever can guarantee (the chastity of) what is between his two jaw-bones and what is between his two legs (i.e. his tongue and his private parts), I guarantee Paradise for him.”
[Sahih Bukhari 8.481, Narrated Sahl bin Sad]

Here’s a few tips:
1. Turn your desires to Paradise and not the dunya.

2. Strive to be in the first group of believers to enter Paradise.

3. Memorize the Ninety-nine Names of Allah, subhana watala, making dhikr regularly. Notice, however, that the hadith does not state that the muslim who merely has the Names memorized will enter Paradise, but the muslim who knows the 99 Names. How do you define knows? … Allahu Alam.

4. Strive to please your husband and do not be ungrateful.

5. Strictly adhere to the five daily prayers at the fixed times.

6. Only participate in Jihad with a pure heart, and not with the intentions to die, for that can become suicidal, and committing suicide robs you of paradise. Simply do not be afraid to die in the cause of Allah, subhana watala.

May Allah guide us and our loved ones to the straight path!
